The sculpture is styled in the serene, meditative tradition of the historical Ayutthaya and early Rattanakosin periods, featuring downcast eyes, elongated earlobes, tightly curled hair knots, and a prominent pointed ushnisha (flame spire).

The piece likely dates back to the 19th-century Rattanakosin period or the late regional styles of the 18th-century Ayutthaya kingdom. It was created using the traditional, labor-intensive lost-wax casting method (cire perdue). The bottom of the fragment clearly reveals the original sandy, porous earthenware clay core still intact inside the head.

During these tumultuous eras of Thai history, countless sacred temple statues suffered damage from conflicts, structural collapses, and natural decay. Historically, surviving fragments like heads and hands were reverently salvaged by locals and collectors. This head has been stabilized via an iron mounting rod inserted into the core for display on a later wood base. It perfectly captures the meditative tranquility (Sukh), spiritual wisdom, and refined metallurgy that defined classic Siamese Buddhist art.
