The opposing lions are modeled in brilliant emerald green with sunny yellow manes and accents of cobalt blue, aubergine and creamy white. Each rests upon an integral pierced architectural pedestal finished in a deep aubergine-brown glaze.

Particularly charming are their animated expressions, dimensional eyes, open mouths, curled manes and traditional ball motifs. Displayed together, the opposing figures form a naturally balanced pair with wonderful color and sculptural presence.

Their jewel-toned palette works beautifully in collected traditional interiors as well as maximalist, Hollywood Regency, Asian-inspired and contemporary rooms where a strong vintage accent is desired.

The undersides retain worn square stamps/marks and the number 213. Because the original marks are no longer sufficiently legible for a reliable attribution, no particular maker or kiln is assigned.
