Refined 19th century Belgian Boch faience garniture offers the timeless beauty of hand-painted blue and white Delft decoration. The four-piece ensemble comprises a pair of baluster-form covered jars and a pair of elegantly flared covered vases, creating a balanced display with varied silhouettes. Each vessel is richly hand painted in deep cobalt blue with floral baskets, scrolling foliage, stylized blossoms, diaper patterns and ornamental borders arranged in beautifully defined panels.
Sculptural lion finials crown the fitted lids, adding a spirited architectural flourish. Each piece bears the Boch factory mark together with the painted signature or mark of the artist who decorated it by hand.
Made by Boch Frères in La Louvière, Belgium, the antique garniture reflects the celebrated pottery’s interpretation of historic Dutch Delft traditions and displays the gentle surface character associated with aged faience. Presented together, the four vessels form an elegant decorative statement for a mantel, console or grand buffet.
