Crafted in France circa 1860, the substantial walnut structure reflects the naturalistic carving associated with the Black Forest tradition.

The wide frame features a shaped crest centered by a projecting shelf and shield-form cartouche, framed by bold scrolls, carved foliage, fruit, ribbons, and crossed branches. The upholstered panel displays an assembled collection of genuine deer and roe-deer antlers. At the center, an imposing stag skull with expansive antlers is mounted on an elaborately carved walnut plaque embellished with oak leaves and acorns. Numerous smaller antlers are arranged on individual shield-form mounts, creating a richly layered and balanced presentation.

Long shaped walnut racks fitted with antler-form pegs flank the central trophies. Original hand-forged iron double hooks extend from the outer sides and were likely intended for game bags, hunting accessories, or sporting equipment. A small demilune shelf accents the lower center, while the shaped frame terminates in carved acorn-form feet.

The rust-red and gold damask fabric was replaced several years ago, together with the padding, braided trim, decorative nails, and related upholstery elements. The walnut retains a rich, warm patina that highlights the deeply carved details.

This exceptional wall-mounted display is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with minor age-related wear and expected variations among the antique trophies assembled over time. Ideal for a library, study, gun room, wine room, hunting lodge, or country-house interior.
