A large substantial vintage stoneware vase, weighting 4.5 kg featuring a sculptural trumpet form and richly varied reactive glaze.

The vase has a tall, gently waisted body rising from a broad rounded foot to a dramatically flared rim. Its atmospheric glaze combines deep maroon and plum tones with areas of muted blue-grey, olive, ochre and earthy brown. The colours merge and flow vertically across the surface, making the glaze appear different from every angle. The interior is also fully glazed in complementary dark tones.

The exceptionally substantial vase has a thick stoneware body weighing approximately 4.5 kg. Paired vertical grooves divide the surface into subtle decorative panels, accentuating its tall, flared silhouette. Variations in the form, glaze and firing are characteristic of its pottery construction.

Its generous proportions make it an impressive decorative statement piece, whether displayed alone or arranged with tall branches, dried flowers or foliage. The organic colouring and strong architectural silhouette would complement modernist, Brutalist, rustic or eclectic interiors.

Presented in good vintage condition with three small areas of glaze loss: one near the base and two along the rim. There are also scattered pinholes, spots and minor irregularities within the glaze, which occurred during firing and are characteristic of the production process. The unglazed underside displays firing lines and general age-related wear. No structural cracks or repairs have been observed. Please refer closely to the photographs.
