This antique oil painting from Sweden depicts a tranquil rocky shoreline bordering a calm body of water, likely a coastal inlet, anchored by a cluster of slender, windswept trees growing along the water's edge with branches leaning outward over the water. The foreground is filled with irregularly shaped shoreline rocks and a dense clump of green grasses punctuated by small yellow wildflowers, adding a bright accent to the lower right corner. The water occupies the left half of the composition, and the background shows a low dark shoreline on the horizon beneath a luminous sky. The artist's signature is in the lower right, and appears to read "Adolf Jansson."
