it consists of two large, circular, polished brass pans mounted on brass ball feet, resting on a white veined marble slab. The rectangular base is made of ebonized wood, lacquered black, with natural wood inlay forming framed panels. A circular brass window with a glass pane on the front allows the indicator needle to be viewed—the scale has a capacity of 5 kilograms.

authenticity: one of the pans bears a circular engraved inscription on its underside, corresponding to an official french metrological verification mark, with the inscription "poids et meures" (weights and measures). This mark attests to its regulated commercial use and its age.

the scale displays a patina consistent with its age: slight traces of oxidation on the locking mechanisms and soiling on the marble, but is in generally good condition, ideal for restoration or display as a decorative piece.
