The back is arranged with four principal panelled sections, each incorporating geometric mouldings, pierced and turned detail and carved roundels. Above is a particularly decorative openwork cresting with further turned spindles and circular carved motifs. The shaped open arms are supported by turned uprights, while the broad solid seat sits above a deep panelled front decorated with further concentric roundel carving. with its impressive scale and strong architectural appearance, this would make an excellent statement piece for a large entrance hall, country house interior, dining room or commercial setting.
