Rare 19th-century solid wood armchair from the Cantal, featuring a built-in storage chest beneath the seat. The paneled back is framed by straight armrests supported by subtly shaped uprights.
Traditionally used in rural interiors around the fireplace, this multifunctional type of seating incorporated storage for everyday essentials, with the compartment beneath the seat historically used to store salt.
