Elegant in their simplicity, this refined mid-century pair of ‘Waterfall’ side tables, designed by Angelo Cortesi for FIAM Italia, beautifully demonstrates the timeless appeal of Italian minimalist design from the 1980s. Expertly crafted from a single sheet of thick, curved glass, each table forms a continuous flowing silhouette that appears almost weightless while offering remarkable strength and stability.
The characteristic waterfall profile, with its softly rounded corners and seamless construction, creates a sculptural presence that is both understated and sophisticated. The transparent glass allows light to pass effortlessly through the design, giving the tables an airy architectural quality while making them easy to integrate into virtually any interior.
The glass displays the subtle green edge tint that is characteristic of high-quality Italian glass from the period, adding warmth and depth to their otherwise minimalist appearance. Whether used as side tables beside a sofa, elegant bedside tables, or sculptural display pedestals, these versatile pieces embody the refined aesthetic of Italian Modernism.
Their clean geometry and balanced proportions make them equally at home in Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, Minimalist and Modern interiors, where they introduce lightness without compromising functionality.
A timeless and highly versatile pair that celebrates the beauty of pure form, exceptional craftsmanship and the enduring elegance of Italian glass design.
Condition
The tables are presented in very good vintage condition with only minor signs of age and use consistent with careful ownership. One table has a small chip to the edge, as shown in the photographs. This is purely cosmetic, does not affect the structural integrity of the piece, and is not visually distracting during everyday use. Both tables otherwise retain their beautiful clarity and elegant appearance. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
