Large antique commercial display showcase manufactured by W.B. McLean Manufacturing Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The case retains its original slant-front presentation form with a richly toned mahogany exterior, extensive plate-glass viewing panels, adjustable interior shelving, and sliding rear access doors.
Substantial rectilinear framing and angled glass end panels provide broad, uninterrupted views of the interior while protecting displayed merchandise from customer handling. Multiple adjustable glass shelves are mounted to the original metal support standards, allowing their positions to be changed for jewelry, tobacco products, pharmacy wares, dry goods, collectibles, or other merchandise.
The broad glass top and open viewing angles reflect the early 20th-century transition toward brighter retail interiors designed to encourage browsing under natural and electric lighting. A faint “Good Fixtures” mark remains visible along the upper interior frame. Original stenciled shipping information survives along the lower wooden base and references Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and model number “610.”
