A striking sculptural side table crafted from a substantial piece of solid teak, distinguished by its monolithic cylindrical form and dramatic burnt black finish. The design embraces the natural geometry of the timber, transforming a simple section of wood into a bold architectural object with an unmistakably organic presence.
The circular tabletop is beautifully expressive, revealing the natural growth rings of the teak in concentric patterns that radiate outward from the center. Fine radial fissures and subtle variations across the surface create a graphic, almost topographical quality, while the slightly irregular perimeter preserves the raw character of the original timber.
The body features a deeply tactile vertical grain, with elongated natural textures and subtle undulations running from the top toward the base. The burning process accentuates these textures, creating variations in depth and tone across the blackened surface. Rather than a flat, uniform black, the finish has a rich charcoal quality, with areas of softer graphite and deeper black emerging naturally through the grain. The result is a beautifully nuanced surface that reveals the character of the teak beneath the dark finish.
The softly rounded edges and organic cylindrical silhouette balance the intensity of the burnt finish, giving the piece a refined contemporary quality. Its substantial, sculptural form allows it to function equally well as a side table, drink table, bedside table, or decorative pedestal.
Ideal for modern organic, minimalist, contemporary, and Japandi interiors, this piece introduces a dramatic contrast of charred timber, natural grain, and sculptural simplicity. The combination of ancient material character and modern form makes it as much a statement object as it is a functional table.
Each variation in grain, fissuring, texture, and tonal depth is inherent to the natural teak and the burning process, making the surface unique to the individual piece.
