A striking sculptural side table crafted from solid teak wood, distinguished by its dramatic organic form and deeply textured exterior. Rather than concealing the natural irregularities of the timber, the design celebrates them, creating a piece that sits somewhere between functional furniture and a freestanding wooden sculpture.
The body is defined by a series of pronounced vertical ridges and channels that flow from the tabletop toward the base. These irregular, almost pleated formations create a wonderful sense of movement, with alternating peaks and recessed sections producing constantly changing areas of light and shadow. The gently cinched profile through the upper portion further emphasizes the sculptural quality of the piece, giving the substantial timber an unexpectedly fluid appearance.
Across the surface, the teak displays a wealth of natural texture. Pronounced grain patterns, knots, subtle fissures, weathered markings and tonal variations remain visible throughout, lending the table a tactile, highly individual character. Warm shades of honey, caramel and earthy brown move naturally across the wood, while the deeper recesses of the carved and organic surface appear darker, accentuating the dimensional quality of the form.
The tabletop provides a beautiful contrast to the heavily textured body. Its relatively flat surface reveals the teak's concentric growth rings in remarkable detail, radiating outward around a naturally occurring central opening. The irregular live perimeter connects seamlessly with the vertical formations below, preserving the impression that the table has been shaped in dialogue with the original piece of timber rather than forced into a conventional geometric form.
With its substantial presence and distinctly primitive-modern aesthetic, the piece works beautifully as a side table, end table, drinks table, bedside table, or sculptural pedestal. Particularly suited to modern organic, contemporary, wabi-sabi, brutalist, and minimalist interiors, it brings warmth and natural materiality to a space while remaining visually commanding.
Each natural fissure, knot, irregular edge, variation in grain and tonal difference is intrinsic to the solid teak and contributes to the one-of-a-kind character of the piece.
