The field is … Read more A pictorial runner in the Qashqai Kashkuli gabbeh tradition, hand-knotted in northern Afghanistan from hand-spun Ghazni wool. The field is built like a patchwork: wide bands of horsemen, camels, deer and peacocks, cypress and tree-of-life panels, framed lion squares, salt-and-pepper speckle stripes and honeycomb rows, flanked by narrow side blocks of stars and checkerboards, with paisley botehs and small animals at either end. The palette is unusually soft for the type: powder blue, sage, olive, sand, ivory and dusty burgundy, with navy and ochre accents.

Vegetable dyes give the muted colors their depth and the gentle abrash of hand-dyed yarn. A storytelling runner that still reads as a neutral, made for a hallway, kitchen, stair landing or bedside; it sits well with coastal, Scandinavian, English country, boho and organic-modern rooms.
