On a natural undyed grey ground, striated like linen, dozens of butterflies drift the full length of the piece with no border to contain them: swallowtails, monarchs, striped and spotted wings, and tiny moths tucked between the large ones, each drawn by hand in navy, teal, sky blue, burgundy, gold, copper, chocolate and ivory. The largest wingspans nearly fill the width; the smallest are the size of a thumb.

Vegetable dyes keep the palette rich but muted, so the piece reads as a soft neutral from a distance and a garden up close. A quiet, charming runner for a hallway, kitchen, nursery, bathroom or bedside, and a natural fit for English country, cottage, eclectic, organic-modern and grandmillennial rooms.
