Framed … Read more A khorjin-design runner, the pattern nomads once wove into saddlebags, here hand-knotted in northern Afghanistan from hand-spun Ghazni wool. Framed by a proper border, the field runs in bands: mounted horsemen on a cream ground, camels, deer, paisley botehs, flowering shrubs, checkerboards and speckled "salt and pepper" stripes, on teal, brick red, mustard, ivory and navy. The ends are finished with the multicolor wrapped tassels that mark this design, a detail rarely seen on runners.

Vegetable dyes give the palette its soft depth and the subtle abrash of hand-dyed yarn. Sized for a long hallway, kitchen, stair landing or bedside, it layers well over jute or sisal and suits boho, eclectic, mid-century and English country rooms.
