The grouping brings together two … Read more A striking collection of three vintage solid brass menorahs, believed to date from the 1960s–1970s. The grouping brings together two substantial seven-branch menorahs with graceful graduated arms and a smaller sculptural nine-branch Hanukkah menorah by Tamar of Israel. The Tamar 450 features an expressive Tree of Life design with wonderfully detailed branches, foliage and an openwork root-form base.

The two larger menorahs feature adjustable arms that can be repositioned, allowing their silhouettes to be subtly changed. Their individual components screw apart, reflecting their traditional modular construction. The smaller Tamar menorah is a solid cast design with fixed branches and a raised central shamash.

Beautifully aged rather than overly polished, the brass retains the warmth, variation and character acquired through decades of use. Together, the three create an especially handsome collection of mid-century Judaica with wonderful sculptural presence.
