From the living estate of Arizona based brutalist sculpture artist John Gleason, enhance your mantel, library, or shelving unit with this striking pair of vintage mid-century ceramic head vases. Produced in Japan for the coveted Royal Orleans Imperial Planter Collection, these rare, oversized pieces beautifully balance historical character with Hollywood Regency flair.
The set depicts two finely detailed Napoleonic-era military officers:
Napoleon's Lancer / Grenadier: Featuring a bold red and black shako hat emblazoned with a prominent "N", a crisp blue uniform collar, and a tall white plume.
Napoleon's Hussar: Featuring an intricate red and yellow military cap detailed with a braided gold-tone cord crest and a sculpted white eagle insignia, accented by braided hair and a dashing mustache.
Unlike standard 1950s lady head vases, these stately military figures stand a commanding 12.5" to 13" tall, making them exceptional statement objects. Both pieces are beautifully hand-painted with a smooth, matte finish on the faces and rich, glossy glazes detailing the uniforms. Use them as functional indoor planters, unique cachepots, or standalone sculptural busts.

There's been very little wear on them. You should expect to see some wear, even though it'll be minimal. I didn't see any cracks, flea marks, or an other imperfections although, due to age, you should expect some. Please see photos for a better overview of these pieces. less
