The rug features an elegant prayer-rug composition, centered around a finely outlined ivory-colored mihrab with a stylized floral motif. The field is framed by an elaborate series of multiple borders, while the broad outer field is richly decorated with large floral rosettes, boteh and palmette motifs arranged in a highly balanced composition. The palette is particularly refined, combining soft ivory, dusty blue, burgundy, muted red, olive, taupe and warm beige tones. The colors have mellowed beautifully with age, giving the rug a distinctive antique patina while retaining remarkable clarity in the design. The extremely fine knotting and detailed ornamentation are characteristic of a high-quality workshop rug, demonstrating considerable technical skill. The overall design reflects the sophisticated Ottoman-era Turkish weaving tradition of the late 19th century. Entirely and very finely hand knotted with wool on cotton foundation. wears due to the age and the use See less
