Small vintage Japanese apothecary box, or kusuri-bako, dating from the 1970s. The box is made of warm-toned wood and features one pull-out drawer with a metal handle.
Dimensions: height 14.5 cm, width 27 cm, depth 19 cm.
The front is decorated with a green cross, referring to its original use as a medicine or apothecary box. The visible wood joints, simple lines and dark top panel give the piece a sober yet characterful appearance.
Inside, the drawer is practically divided, making the box still useful today for small objects, jewellery, documents, tea, herbs or shop display.
The box is in beautiful vintage condition, with normal age-related wear, light traces of use and wear consistent with age and function.
A charming and authentic Japanese storage object with a calm wabi-sabi feel, beautiful in a Japanese, vintage, minimalist or eclectic interior.
