The table features a simple round top supported by three slightly splayed legs and traditional wooden braces beneath the tabletop. Its restrained construction and honest use of materials are characteristic of French rural furniture of the period. Particularly appealing is the surface of the wood, which has developed a rich natural patina through generations of use. Numerous small marks, irregularities and traces of age remain visible throughout and form an integral part of the table's character and history. The simplicity of the construction combined with the wonderfully weathered surface gives the piece an almost sculptural quality. Its compact proportions make it suitable as a side table, occasional table or small center table in both traditional and contemporary interiors. See less
