Created in Hawaii, the substantial sculptural vessel rises from an architectural pedestal base and is completed by its removable bamboo-form top and central symbolic seal.

Lovein developed the Wish Keeper concept in 1992, creating a distinctive vessel in which a suspended ceramic chamber is designed to hold a written wish. This example retains its complete assembly, including the removable sculptural top, suspension cord and internal wish chamber. The white crackle raku surface gives the ceramic body considerable visual depth while complementing the work's Asian-inspired proportions and symbolic character.

Dating firmly to 1999, the sculpture is accompanied by its original paperwork and documented provenance. At 14 inches high and weighing 6.7 lb, it has substantial presence as an example of Hawaiian studio craft, contemporary American ceramics and Lovein's signature Wish Keeper form.
