A vintage Norwegian hand-painted wooden bowl dated 1983, decorated in a rosemaling-inspired folk-art style.
The interior features an elaborate symmetrical composition of floral and scrolling motifs in warm red, brown, olive green, cream, and muted blue tones. The outer rim is inscribed with the name “Asbjorg Breistein”, while the underside bears a handwritten signature or initials together with the date 1983.
The bowl is especially striking because of its large scale, measuring approximately 42 cm / 16.5 inches in diameter. Larger examples of this type are less commonly encountered than standard decorative bowls, giving the piece a particularly strong visual presence and making it well suited as a central decorative accent.
Crafted from wood and finished with hand-painted decoration characteristic of Scandinavian folk-art traditions, the bowl combines flowing floral ornament, balanced symmetry, and a subdued Nordic color palette.
A distinctive vintage decorative object suitable for Scandinavian, rustic, folk-art, or traditional interiors, as well as for collections of hand-painted Nordic woodenware.
