The vessel … Read more A late twentieth-century Le Creuset rectangular open baker or roaster, made in France and dating to circa 1980s–1990s. The vessel is constructed in substantial enameled cast iron and finished in Le Creuset's Cerise, or Cherry Red, exterior enamel with a contrasting cream enamel cooking surface.

The form is unusually large, measuring approximately 17.5 inches long by 13 inches wide and 4 inches high. Integral side handles are cast as part of the body, while the deep rectangular basin provides substantial internal capacity for baking, roasting, casserole preparation and oven-to-table service.

The exterior displays Le Creuset's characteristic graduated Cerise coloration, moving through deeper red tones across the cast-iron body. The interior is finished in smooth cream enamel. The underside is marked 06-28; the code is transcribed as found and is assigned to a 6qt capacity.

At 9.13 lb, the roaster is notably heavy and substantial, consistent with enameled cast-iron construction rather than lightweight stoneware. The weight, French manufacture, cream interior enamel, integrated handles and large format place the piece within Le Creuset's traditional cast-iron cookware production.
