About the Artist...
Tony Evans was a Welsh-born engineer, scientist, professor, and renowned artist known for his innovative work in Raku pottery. Born in 1942 and passed away in 2009, he was the founder and president of Evans Designs, specializing in Raku, slumped glass, and other mixed media. His work is characterized by a volcanic surface, earthy tones, and glossy drip glazes. He also taught at prestigious universities including Harvard, Princeton, Berkeley, and UCSB.
