An impressive early-20th-century laboratory storage and display cabinet by Kewaunee Manufacturing Co., associated with Adrian, Michigan, and Kewaunee, Wisconsin. Crafted from richly figured quarter-sawn oak, the substantial cabinet combines a tall glazed upper case with a six-drawer storage base.
The upper section features two sliding glass doors with recessed brass pulls, glazed side panels, and its original locking hardware and key. Light entering through the front and sides provides clear visibility of the interior, while the original adjustable shelf standards allow the display space to accommodate laboratory apparatus, specimens, instruments, books, or collected objects of varying heights.
Six wide drawers fitted with substantial rounded oak pulls provide generous enclosed storage beneath the display compartment. Paneled gray-painted backboards, heavy case construction, and straightforward detailing reflect the practical character of institutional and scientific furnishings from the period. A distinctive storage piece for a library, office, studio, retail environment, or private collection.
