An antique Norwegian wooden tine box, hand-painted and dated 1902, representing a traditional form of Scandinavian folk craft.
The oval wooden box is constructed using traditional joined construction and retains its aged painted surface with floral decoration, a cow motif on the body, and a small rooster motif on the lid. The lid is inscribed with the name “Ingeborg Alanna” together with the date 1902.
The decoration appears to have been applied by hand, and the piece retains the irregularities, surface wear, and patina expected from an object of this age. The form and construction are consistent with traditional Norwegian tine boxes, which were historically used as practical household containers.
A distinctive decorative object with strong Scandinavian folk-art character, suitable for a collection of Norwegian antiques, folk art, or rustic and traditional interiors.
