Elevate your space with this exceptional, cohesive set of six (6) authentic, hand-colored botanical copper-plate engravings by the celebrated English botanist and artist Henry Charles Andrews (fl. 1794–1830). Published in London between 1797 and 1803, these rare prints originate from the highly coveted early volumes of Andrews' foundational masterpiece, The Botanist's Repository.
Each print features the historic publisher's line inscribed along the bottom: "Pub. as the Act directed by H. Andrews, Knightsbridge," serving as a legal copyright mark and a definitive guarantee of their 220+ year antiquity.
The Collector's Crown Jewel: Plate 1
Most remarkably, this curated collection includes Plate 1 (Cortusa matthioli) from Volume 1 (1797)—the historic, absolute first print that launched the entire decade-long serial publication. Finding Plate 1 intact and grouped alongside its consecutive sister plates is an incredibly rare opportunity.
The Complete Plant Roster:
1. Cortusa matthioli – Vol. 1, Plate 1 (1797) | Charming alpine pink blossoms.
2. Vereia crenata – Vol. 1, Plate 21 (1798) | Fleshy scalloped leaves with vibrant yellow-orange flowers.
3. Goodenia calendulacea – Vol. 1, Plate 22 (1798) | Bright blue Australian coastal specimen.
4. Goodenia ovata – Vol. 1, Plate 68 (1799) | Vibrant, cheerful yellow Australian blossoms.
5. Clusia flava – Vol. 4, Plate 223 (1802) | Bold, leathery Caribbean foliage with yellow flowers.
6. Olea apetala – Vol. 5, Plate 316 (1803) | Exotic New Zealand "petal-less" olive botanical.
With their rich historical palette of deep greens, sunny yellows, and striking blues, this set is perfectly scaled to be hung together as a dramatic 3x2 grid gallery wall. Because three of the prints (Goodenia and Olea) highlight rare flora discovered during early British maritime expeditions to Australia and New Zealand, this collection carries a captivating "Age of Discovery" narrative that adds instant character to traditional, transitional, or grandmillennial interiors.
Vintage gold frames and beautiful custom matte.

The handmade wove paper shows a wonderful, gentle age-toning that only authentic 18th/19th-century paper possesses. The original hand-applied watercolor pigments remain remarkably crisp, lively, and clear. Minor age-appropriate wear or soft foxing may be present under the mattes, consistent with paper of this grand age. Note: The prints are currently housed in vintage framing with mattes softly overlapping the margins. Frames have minor signs of wear in the form of scratches and scuffs. less
