The visual beauty of this extraordinary glasswork is enhanced every time you handle it, as it's "deliciously" heavy and substantial. Touching the stem and base, all smooth as silk, adds another dimension of pleasure and respect for the brilliant craftsmanship that the Steuben workers employed.
The gold aurene is enhanced by its iridescence; that finish is in very good to excellent condition with just slight wear. There are no cracks or chips on any edge.
Part of the original paper tag on the bottom, inside the pontil, remains intact. The camera wasn't able to pick up the signature but it's easily visible and legible with the assistance of a magnifying glass. Speaking of the photography, the compote sits level, whereas here it appears to be on a slight tilt, the result of the photography only.
At nearly eight inches across (and about 3 3/4 inches high), this luminous compote will add presence and dazzle to your table.
