The underside bears an impressed square mark that reads Yamatoku / ヤマトク. Based on the mark, decorative style, and manufacturing characteristics, the piece is attributed to early 20th-century Japanese production. The decoration is consistent with the Igezara / inban transferware tradition, featuring cobalt-blue underglaze decoration.

The central scene depicts a stylized East Asian landscape with mountains, trees, architecture, water, and small figures crossing a bridge. The wide border is richly decorated with a combination of intricate geometric and floral patterns. Additional cobalt-blue floral motifs decorate the reverse.

A striking decorative and collectible example of Japanese blue-and-white porcelain, suitable for display, wall décor, or inclusion in a collection of antique Japanese ceramics.
