The floral still life has a long tradition in European painting, and the composition arranges the flowers as the central subject across the panel. The panel support and the signature give the work both documentary and decorative interest. Suited to display in a dining room, sitting room, library, or hall, the painting serves as a decorative composition and a focal point on a wall. Its twentieth-century date and French origin give it period character. The traditional subject and treatment suit both period and plainer interiors. As a signed French oil on panel of a floral still life, the painting offers a decorative scene together with the interest of a signed work, working as a wall piece in a range of rooms, where its floral subject brings colour and a classical note to the setting.
