The façade is composed of two smaller upper drawers above three long graduated drawers, each fitted with original brass escutcheons and pulls that emphasize the clean geometry of the period. Slender ebonized columnar stiles with delicate gilt accents frame the case, lending an architectural rhythm and subtle contrast to the rich reddish-brown tones of the cherrywood. Raised on graceful tapered legs, the chest possesses a light and balanced silhouette that is distinctly Directoire in spirit.
