A hand-painted majolica plate signed "Capelo, Gto. Mex." on the reverse, from Guanajuato, Mexico — a maker's mark associated with fine hand-painted Mexican majolica in the Spanish revival tradition. Decorated with a rich fruit still life of grapes, bananas, pear, and strawberries in muted tones over a mottled background, with a rust-brown rim. A striking addition to an eclectic tablescape or gallery wall of collected pottery.
CONDITION: In good condition with wear consistent with age and use.
