A beautifully decorated Art Nouveau two-handled bowl by Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel, better known as Amphora, produced in Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia, circa 1900.
The low, broad form is framed by dramatic scrolling handles finished in rich gilding. Its ivory-toned body is decorated with stylized dark flowers set among elongated architectural bands shaded in turquoise, aqua, and deep blue. Fine hand-applied gilt lines and densely worked hatch marks cover much of the surrounding surface, giving the decoration remarkable texture and visual complexity.
The design combines the naturalistic floral vocabulary of Art Nouveau with the increasingly stylized geometry associated with Central European Jugendstil at the turn of the century. The exaggerated handles and unusual horizontal form make it particularly striking as a centerpiece or display bowl.
The underside bears the red printed Turn-Teplitz-Bohemia / RStK / Made in Austria factory mark associated with Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel production around 1899–1905
