Sketch for ''The Donkey'' is an original china ink drawing and watercolor by Gabriele Galantara (November 29, 1914). This is the cover of the donkey magazine realized in China ink and watercolour, the artwork in good conditions represent two cartoons of the war. Gabriele Galantara (1865-1937) was a journalist and one of the leading Italian caricaturists and cartoonists. ''The donkey'' weekly magazine published in 1892 of which Galantara signed the illustrations, met the favor of the public. The aim of the satire were episodes of political malfeasance. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
