This is a hand colored lithograph of a Bluebellied Roller (Coracias cyanogaster) by the noted Dutch ornithological illustrator Johannes Gerardus … Read more This is a hand colored lithograph of a Bluebellied Roller (Coracias cyanogaster) by the noted Dutch ornithological illustrator Johannes Gerardus Keulemans. It features a rich mustard-yellow head, royal blue chest, and a powder-blue tail, along with muted green tones in the leaves. Printed below the edge of the lower frame is 'Morris & Bendien Inc. N.Y. Litho in USA' which places this edition in the early 20th century. This print was part of the artists series of 'Burmese Wild Birds of Burma', originally published in 1893.

Housed in its original creamy taupe painted wooden frame and protected behind glass, with a new dust cover on the back and its original metal hanging bracket on the back.

Johannes Gerardus Keulemans (1842–1912) was a famous Dutch bird illustrator who spent most of his life working in England and became the leading ornithological artist of the late 19th century.
