Striking vintage cast brass elephant sculpture featuring a dramatically raised trunk, elongated tusks, and richly modeled surface detail. The elephant is captured in motion with one front foot raised and is mounted on a substantial rectangular cast brass pedestal with a deeply textured border.
The casting has wonderful character throughout, from the incised wrinkles of the body and ears to the darkened details along the trunk and architectural base. A mellow, naturally aged brass patina gives the sculpture depth and variation.
The elephant and pedestal are separately cast components, with the sculpture secured through the underside of the hollow base. The substantial scale and strong silhouette make this an especially appealing decorative object for a library, console, mantel, bookcase or layered interior.
The brass has been left unpolished to preserve its existing patina.
