Horse with herds is a really beautiful china ink original drawing on paper, signed and dated in black ink on lower margin by the italian artist, filippo palizzi (1818-1899). The freshness of the line, and the meticulousness of the execution, the natural subject makes precious this modern artwork characterized by realism of intimate poetic intonation, in full nineteenth-century taste. Except for a light fowing on top of sheet, otherwise good conditions. This original drawing includes a passepartout and a wooden frame, cm 31 x 39. Filippo palizzi(vasto 1818 - naples 1899). Filipppo palizzi is remembered as the renovator of nineteenth-century neapolitan painting, because he abandoned the academic style to devote himself to the study of truth, especially of landscapes and animals, in harmony with contemporary french experiences, directing his painting towards a realism of intimate poetic intonation . In naples in 1837, he was in contact with the posillipo school, which helped make him abandon academic painting. In 1855 he was traveling for studies in holland, belgium and france; he returned to paris in 1865 and 1875. In naples, from 1878 to 1880 he directed the academy of fine arts with the intention of making the teaching of the artistic disciplines in step with the times, with the same assignment still in 1891 and , since 1880, and collaborated in the organization of industrial art schools. Following the example of a. Van pitloo and g. Smargiassi, he devoted himself to the study of truth, in the most humble subjects such as small landscapes and squares of animals, referring back to the tradition of seventeenth-century dutch animalists, but with more discovered, fully nineteenth-century naturalism . A research that matured in contact with contemporary french experiences, kept alive thanks to the relationships with his brother giuseppe, also a painter and friend of de nittis.
