Signed hand-painted metal bowl by American folk artist Peter Ompir (1904–1979), featuring a vibrant rooster at the center surrounded by bold Pennsylvania Dutch-inspired crescent moon motifs in rich black, red, and gold.
Ompir began painting in the 1930s and became known for transforming everyday household items—trays, bowls, boxes, pitchers, and furniture—into colorful works of folk art decorated with roosters, fruit, trains, Colonial figures, and traditional Pennsylvania German motifs. This bowl is a wonderful example of his whimsical, decorative style and displays beautifully with attractive age-related wear that adds to its vintage character.
