The design features a rectangular … Read more A distinctive leather, iron and glass occasional table attributed to Maitland-Smith, dating to the 2000s. The design features a rectangular tray-form top wrapped in rich brown leather and finished with oversized decorative nailhead trim.

A clear inset glass top reveals the architectural iron base below, composed of turned legs joined by intersecting X-form stretchers accented with circular medallions. The combination of aged leather, antiqued iron, nailhead detailing and glass gives the piece a handsome Rustic European and Old World character.

At 24.5 inches high, the table is taller than a conventional coffee table, making it equally suitable as an oversized side table, occasional table or center table between a pair of lounge chairs.

This piece is attributed to Maitland-Smith based on an identical example previously handled and sold by our gallery. No maker’s label is present on this example.

The leather and metal have developed attractive age-related patina, which has intentionally been left intact.
