The leather is soft and strong, plus it is a resilient fabric for those who put feet on it, and for those who put a tray with canapés on it. Absolutely room changing piece. I must sell it only because I have downsized to small apartment, one that will have a loveseat ( not a large sofa) . It is authentic Baker product, and I have attached photos of the Baker mark from the bottom of the ottoman. The photo of the bottom of the ottoman also shows that it is is like new condition/ less
