A pair of French brass candlesticks, 19th century. Turned baluster form with a tapered column stem, knopped collar, and a stepped circular base. Each has a flared drip pan and a deep socket. The stem is screwed through the base with a peened nut underneath, the standard construction for French candlesticks of this period. Purchased in Arles, France.
Good antique condition with a warm, mellow patina. Surface wear, small dark spots, and light scratches consistent with age and use; a few old wax residues in the sockets. Both stand straight and are stable. Unpolished with natural patina.
