An original palladium print by Susana Raab, a Washington DC based documentary and fine art photographer born in Lima, Peru. This is one of only three prints in the edition, and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
The image shows a young Quechua porter standing in a narrow stone corridor along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, arms crossed, smiling under a traditional woven hat with tassels, stone walls rising on either side.
Palladium printing is a hand-coated, non-silver photographic process, prized by collectors for its long tonal range and archival permanence. The print measures 8 x 10 inches, double matted and framed to 16 x 20 inches in a black ribbed wood frame with glass. Raab made these prints under the instruction of noted photographer Regina del Luise. You can see some of her brush marks in the lower left corner of the print. This is one of the most archival of black and white printing processes.
Raab's work has been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally. This piece reflects her own connection to Peru through her ongoing documentary practice.
Includes certificate of authenticity. Ready to hang. Ships free within the US.
