Fully original and in amazing condition, with no chips or cracks, the brass retains a warm golden patina that has been left unpolished to preserve its charm and historical value. This iconic floor lamp is crafted in a refined combination of brass, black lacquered metal, and turquoise cut crystal. Organically shaped, its sculptural and almost mystical design recalls a scepter. The turquoise crystal elements are thick and beautifully worked, featuring a double lens cut, chiseled and polished, with a sandblasted effect at the center. They are elegantly set within a substantial brass ring, supported by a tubular structure in brass and blackened metal, all resting on a convex black metal base. When lit, the effect is simply spectacular, enhancing the extraordinary quality of the crystal and the warm tone of the brass. The lamp has been rewired and tested, and is compatible with both us and eu/uk standards. It uses a standard e14 light bulb. A refined and highly collectible piece, perfect to elevate any interior with a timeless example of mid-century italian design. The model 2020 floor lamp, part of the “micro” series, is one of the most iconic designs by ingrand. The series also includes matching ceiling lamps. Notably, max ingrand became artistic director of fontana arte in 1954, a company originally founded by gio ponti in 1932. During that time he came up with many design classics, such as the fontana table lamp, still one of the best selling products for the company that bears its name. Having studied at the school of fine arts in paris, he specialised in the decorative arts, under the guidance of major artists such as jacques grüber and charles lemaresquier. He also produced a great number of stained glass panels for religious buildings, hotels and public places. Towards the end of his life he was awarded the french legion of honour in recognition of his achievements in design. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
