A graduating set of two vintage hand-painted porcelain figurines by the Hungarian manufacturer Herend.
Formed as kneeling Chinese Mandarin figures, each statue holds a fixed, shallow, open double-lobed bowl. Historically cataloged as open salt cellars or spice dips for formal dining tables, these pieces now serve as decorative objects or small tabletop vessels.
The figures are decorated by hand with fine enamel paint, featuring white tunics with multi-colored Chinoiserie floral sprays, rust-red trousers, and turquoise shoes. The shallow open bowls feature a green and red geometric lattice-work pattern along the rim, and both pieces are finished with 24-karat gold accents on the buttons and edges.
