The rounded body tapers gently toward a short raised neck, giving the small vessel a particularly strong silhouette.

The glaze is the standout, transitioning from a soft gray and cream at the neck into atmospheric blue, violet and deep plum tones across the body, creating a beautiful ombré effect with subtle variations from the firing.

Its organic form and expressive glaze recall the studio pottery traditions associated with ceramists such as Toshiko Takaezu, Beatrice Wood, Otto and Gertrud Natzler, and Edwin and Mary Scheier. These references are stylistic only; the piece is signed but the artist remains unidentified.
