The circular disc is divided into geometric panels containing an assortment of traditional and mythical animal motifs, including dragons, tiger-like figures, phoenix or bird figures, and other stylized creatures, surrounded by cloud and scroll designs. Both sides are extensively decorated, with the carving highlighted by the naturally dark, mottled surface and lighter exposed areas of the stone.

The exact stone has not been positively identified. It may be soapstone, alabaster, marble, or another carved decorative hardstone, so it is being conservatively described as hardstone.

Measurements: approximately 11-1/2 inches diameter with a 3-inch diameter center opening.
