Each chair features a dramatic high back, gently flared arms, and a substantial wood frame wrapped almost entirely in tightly applied neutral taupe rope. The rope continues across the back, arms, apron, seat deck, and tapered legs, giving the chairs a distinctive handcrafted and architectural presence.

The removable seat cushions are upholstered in a rich chocolate brown, taupe, and ivory patterned textile, creating a sophisticated contrast with the neutral rope-wrapped frames.

Estate inventory documentation identifies the pair as “Rope Chairs (2)” with an original cost of $15,786, with handwritten attribution to Christian Astuguevieille.
