Carlo De Tommasi’s Flowers, dated 2018, presents a richly composed floral still life in which flowers, foliage and colour are arranged through a carefully controlled balance of volumes. The dense composition creates a harmonious sense of abundance, while the contrast between darker passages and luminous floral accents gives the painting a distinctly lyrical atmosphere.
The work reflects De Tommasi’s refined approach to floral painting, with expressive brushwork, carefully modulated tones and a strong sensitivity to the decorative potential of colour. Layers of flowers emerge against a deeper background, creating depth and movement while maintaining a coherent and balanced overall composition.
Exceptional decorative importance is given to the monumental wooden frame, gilded in gold leaf and entirely enriched with more than 500 handmade flowers in pure white Capodimonte porcelain. Each floral element is individually crafted and applied by hand, transforming the frame into an integral part of the work and giving the piece an unusually elaborate three-dimensional presence.
The combination of the richly painted floral composition and the highly articulated gilded frame makes the work particularly effective in elegant classical, eclectic and sophisticated contemporary interiors. It can serve as a major focal point above a console, fireplace or within a formal reception space, where both the painting and the exceptional craftsmanship of the frame can be fully appreciated.
The canvas measures 100 × 80 cm. The work is presented framed; the overall framed dimensions are to be specified.
An exceptional decorative painting distinguished not only by De Tommasi’s carefully orchestrated floral composition, but also by its extraordinary handcrafted Capodimonte porcelain frame. The combination of painting, gold-leaf craftsmanship and hundreds of individually made porcelain flowers gives Fiori a distinctive presence and a particularly strong collectible and decorative character.
