The body is decorated with a classically inspired chariot scene, rendered in thick relief glazes that create a striking mosaic-like surface.

dating to circa 1915, this sculptural ceramic amphora reflects the transition from central european secession design toward the increasingly geometric vocabulary that would characterize the emerging art deco period.
the principal decoration depicts a classical warrior standing in a vivid green chariot drawn by two horses, one white and one brown. The figure wears a red tunic and cape, with a blue shield and pale helmet. Rather than being applied as a flat painted scene, the composition is articulated through substantial raised glazes, producing a tactile, almost mosaic-like surface and giving unusual depth to the colors.
the reverse is treated with geometric ornament and stylized rosettes, continuing the secessionist decorative vocabulary around the vessel.
particularly distinctive is the large square-form handle, conceived as an architectural element rather than a conventional applied handle. Rising above and framing the spout before descending toward the body, its strongly geometric construction gives the amphora a pronounced sculptural profile.
condition: excellent antique condition overall. A minute area of glaze loss, approximately 3 mm, is present near the lower edge of the base. It is visually unobtrusive and does not affect the structure or overall presentation of the piece. This piece has an attribution mark,
